Material Flow Planner

Abdelrahman joined LEONI in 2023, progressing from Trainee to Internal Material Flow Planner, now involved in global SAP implementation.

My story at LEONI

I’m Abdelrahman, a graduate from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, majoring in Electrical Power & Machines. I joined LEONI Egypt in February 2023 as a Trainee in the Project Management department. Initially, I was responsible for various topics in different projects for different customers. After four months as a trainee, I transitioned to the Value Chain Management (VCM) department as an Internal Material Flow Planner (Full Time). Currently, I serve as the operation mirror for the IMF in the FLOW program, acting as an Egyptian key user in the F2F stream. The FLOW program aims to implement the SAP system in LEONI worldwide.

My job

All the time, I like to learn new things to increase my knowledge and enhance my experience. My current role at LEONI as a FLOW program key user allows me to learn the internal material flow process in LEONI’s future from scratch. I am passionate about my current work because the role provides me with the experience I want to acquire, along with knowledge of the very efficient ERP system, SAP. This system is used in about 60% of the industry market, so it's a great opportunity to stretch my capabilities.

My daily routine

Start of the day

I prefer starting my day more spiritually. So, the very first thing I do in the morning is praying. Then, I do some Yoga exercises to help me focus more on my day's targets. After that, I write down the targets I need to achieve to be clear in front of my eyes and not be distracted due to the busy workday. After completing the planning part for the day, I have my breakfast, followed by a cup of coffee, and then I go to the office to start working.

Morning

First, I check my inbox and look at my diary to see what is scheduled. Which tasks take priority? Then, I contact my boss to see if there are any other tasks that need to be achieved during the day. Afterward, I start finalizing my tasks. In this part of the day, I also contact some colleagues to schedule SAP training with them on the IMF process.

Lunch break

Usually, I have my lunch at 1 PM. After starting my workday at 8:30 AM, I become quite hungry by 1 PM. I enjoy having lunch with my friends in the cafeteria of the factory, discussing various topics to break away from the work mood and relax my mind for the rest of the day. I particularly like talking about football since I have friends who are interested in it as well. It's a great opportunity to have conversations about different leagues around the world. I don't prefer junk food, so I like preparing my lunch (healthy food) in the morning.

Afternoon

After having lunch, I usually go to pray and then return to the office to complete my tasks. During this part of the day, I often have some training sessions on the new system. You can expect that this is the most enjoyable part for me because I learn a lot of new things about my process and SAP as well. Indeed, I enjoy learning new things to increase my experience in the industry, which I love the most.

Evening

After finishing the workday, I usually go home directly to have dinner with my parents because I appreciate having family time during the day. Then, it depends on what I have planned for the evening. It could be hanging out with my friends to play football or spending time at the gym.

My highlights

The most exciting moment was when I was presenting our new IMF process on SAP for the country manager. It was a very enjoyable moment for me. I was amazed by how I controlled my thoughts during the presentation in front of a lot of people and how I focused on remembering each piece of information to explain to the audience. What a moment!

My view of LEONI as an employer

After finishing the workday, I usually go home directly to have dinner with my parents because I appreciate having family time during the day. Then, it depends on what I planned to spend the evening. It can be hanging out with my friends to play football or spending time in the gym.

I have worked in two teams since I joined LEONI, and both of them are amazing. Colleagues are very supportive, and you will never feel alone. Everyone on the team wants to help the others and share their experiences. Even outside of work, your team will be your close friends, so we hang out to have some fun. The atmosphere is really great.

In my view, LEONI can be summarized in three words: "School of young engineers," "Team cohesion," and "Professional."
