Operational Excellence Lead Specialist

Abanoub, 27, joined LEONI in 2022 as an Operational Excellence Trainee, now serving as Lead Specialist.

My story at LEONI

My name is Abanoub, and I am a 27-year-old mechanical engineer. I am an analytical person who enjoys observing, analyzing, and improving. These goals prompted me to join LEONI as an Operational Excellence Trainee in 2022, where I am currently an Operational Excellence Lead Specialist.

My job

When I come to work, I check my emails, then attend the DOM (daily operational meeting) on the shop floor to discuss the state of the previous day with various departments, and then perform the GEMBA walk. Following that, I attend my team's daily meeting to give a brief update on my work in progress since the last meeting, discuss any blockers or challenges, and share it with the team.

Then I take a lunch break before beginning my shop floor routine, which consists of walking around the areas for which I am responsible to check progress in development and provide on-the-job mentoring.

At the end of the day, I typically have some meetings or work on improvement projects. I also develop digital dashboards to track KPIs and send reports to the management team.

My highlights

The best moment of my time at LEONI was when I created a digital dashboard from scratch to track the main KPIs of the country plants. After weeks of studying and perfecting the dashboard, it is now being used in LEONI Egypt and is considered a best practice globally.

LEONI supports my development by providing me with one-on-one meetings with my manager, in which he guides and coaches me on how to improve my performance and lead topics more effectively. I am also assigned a variety of e-learning trainings to help me learn new skills and knowledge.

My view of LEONI as an employer

What I value most about working at LEONI is the people. The team I work with is incredibly talented and dedicated, and they truly embody the company's values of collaboration and respect. I feel fortunate to be part of such a supportive and dynamic group of individuals.

The work culture at LEONI is focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We strive to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to learn and grow.

As for the atmosphere in our Operational Excellence team in Egypt, we prioritize open communication, mutual respect, and a supportive environment. We work hard to achieve our goals.

In three words, I would describe LEONI as international, adaptable, and results-oriented.
