My story at LEONI

My name is Shymaa. I am a highly experienced Electrical Engineer with over 14 years of expertise at LEONI Egypt. I joined LEONI by applying online on one of the recruitment platforms and have since held various leadership positions, including my current role as Head of Project Management, FLOW Deployment Manager, and New Plant Project Manager.

I started as a calculation engineer at LEONI Egypt, progressing to Calculation Team Leader, EMEA Calculation Manager, and BU Calculation Global Manager in over 10 years. Transitioning to Head of Country Project Manager Egypt, I oversee various projects and have additional roles, including Next GEN Egypt Coordinator, FLOW Deployment Manager, Project Manager for the new plant, and part of Production Infrastructure Management (PIM).

As the Next GEN Egypt Coordinator, I lead the implementation of LEONI's new organizational structure. As the FLOW Deployment Manager, I oversee the global business transformation program. Additionally, I manage the project for LEONI's new plant and am part of the PIM team, focusing on production concept, industrial engineering, and the sample area. In the role of 1st level PM, I handle project duplication in Egypt. My success story at LEONI showcases my continuous growth, exceeding expectations in various roles, and serving as an inspiration to others.

My job

Leading Complex Projects: I have the opportunity to lead and manage complex project portfolios, including both project management and SAP implementation initiatives. This allows me to leverage my expertise in both areas to achieve strategic objectives and deliver value to the company.

Strategic Impact: My work directly contributes to LEONI's strategic goals, such as streamlining operations, optimizing resource allocation, and enhancing decision-making capabilities through effective SAP implementation and footprint management. Seeing the impact of my work on the company's overall performance is undoubtedly a source of great satisfaction.

Team Leadership and Mentorship: I have the privilege of leading and mentoring a team of talented project managers and FLOW key users. Guiding them in their professional development, supporting them in achieving their goals, and witnessing their growth and contributions is a rewarding aspect of my role.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: I enjoy the challenges of managing complex projects and SAP implementations, finding creative solutions to overcome obstacles, and making informed decisions that drive project success. This intellectually stimulating aspect of my work keeps me engaged and motivated.

My daily routine


I arrive at work at 8:00 AM and start by checking emails and the calendar. After that, I meet with my direct reports to discuss the day's priorities and address any roadblocks. Following that, I review and approve project plans and timelines. Subsequently, I attend scheduled meetings with project managers, clients, or other stakeholders. Finally, I engage in high-priority tasks, such as developing and implementing new project management strategies or resolving complex issues.


Continuing my day, I work on high-priority tasks and then meet with the FLOW deployment team to discuss the progress of the program and identify any areas of concern. Following that, I review and approve new plant project plans and timelines. Later, I meet with the PIM team to discuss production concepts, industrial engineering initiatives, and sample area requirements.


In the evening I attend any evening meetings or events, review and approve any outstanding project deliverables, and prepare for the next day by reviewing the calendar and identifying any key tasks or priorities.

My highlights

As the Head of Project Management in Egypt, I've embarked on a remarkable career journey at LEONI, spanning 14 years across various roles, including calculation engineer, calculation global, and now my current position. My most exciting moment was being nominated as the head of project management. This nomination signifies LEONI's trust in my capabilities and leadership potential.
